We are all and have all seen interior designs or styles that we’ve fallen in love with online, certain color combinations etc and we may even have tried picking up those colors from the internet for our interior design ideas. Hopefully you didn’t just randomly do that, because odds are you might have been a little disappointed.
The colors that we see on a computer screen do not translate 100% into exact paint colors, we could get into a whole long discussion of why that is, RGB versus CMYK versus Hex Code to Pantone., it’s all somewhat of a mystery. Instead we’ll simply tell you that if you find colors that you love online, you will need, should make the Hex Code to Pantone conversion (Hex is the color on the screen, Pantone is of course, paint color). There are a number of good converters online that are free for use, however our favorite is probably rgb.to – when the converted hex to pantone comes out, as you scroll down the screen the colors provided are the closest match and they also provide complimentary, tetrad, accented and other inspiration.
If you need a good image / photo program (not everyone has or should have photoshop) purchase and download acorn… it’s very cool and easy to use.
Fred Marion has a pretty good how to also.
