It’s almost impossible not to see the design renderings and immediately think of Tatooine in Star Wars. The Valley of Giants by Eric Randall Morris and Galo Canizares is another very cool architectural theory entry for addressing the concerns of making deserts more habitable, although, not sure if terraforming the desert is a great idea, we’re having enough problems with our environment, so further efforts to bend nature to our will may not be so great. However, the idea in general has great merit, amazing towers in the desert that can produce and collect water, that help plants to pollinate and turn the dry areas of desert into an oasis. This is one of those design ideas to sort of keep a mental check in the back of the head. In a rapidly warming planet we’re all pretty aware by now that much of the planet will become hotter and thus desert, so we may very well need to figure out how to bring water and plants to areas that become barren. Hold that thought.
