Having driven ourselves crazy by trying to find any interior photos of the George Clooney Lake Como house, in our meanderings we came across a number of other homes that are at least worthy of a mention or two. No reason to assume that Clooney has the same taste in décor as others on the lake, but a peek inside at their homes is fun.
One of the all time famous residents of Lake Como, who purchased his Villa all the way back in 1977, was Gianni Versace who purchased and renovated the gorgeous Villa Fontanelle. The home spawling palazzo was originally built in 1776 and was previously owned by the notable Cambiaghi family. It’s interesting to see the aesthetic of a younger Versace at his Lake home versus his later much more ornate and baroque style from his home in Miami, Casa Casuarina.
It was widely reported that Russian restaurateur Arkady Novikov purchased the home for about $50 million USD. While there are a couple of references to the home now being a hotel, we haven’t yet been able to find a website for the property or anything on any of the usual hotel booking engines, so maybe this was an idea that ran out of stream or never got off the ground. If you want to hit up one of the great villa’s on Como your best option, although super pricey is Villa D’Este.
