Million Dollar Listing, really? That’s for the poor folk. It’s official the first billion dollar property has hit the market and it is the once home of Belgium’s King Leopold II, currently owned by Suzanne Marnier-Lapostolle of the Grand Marnier family (not sure how South of France mixes with margarita’s). It’s basically impossible to conceive of anyone who would be willing to and more than that who would have the money to throw down on a billion dollar home. While there is a house in Mumbai that is valued at a billion dollars, it was not actually built or sold for a billion dollars. It seems that Marnier-Lapostolle’s reason for selling is a desire to downsize… you have to imagine the upkeep is a bit of a headache. Although only 10 bedrooms, it does have 35 acres of land, 20 greenhouses (???) and stables – all of this on some of the most desirable and expensive land in Europe.
If you want to read about the whole lot, we would suggest the Daily Mail article, there are scant pictures of the home, well, for obvious reasons. Anyway, good luck to the buyer.
