Small kitchens are a fact of life In New York City, you may not like it, but that probably ain’t going to change. Given the built urban environment, buildings going straight up and every square foot of space maximized, if possible bedrooms would face out on to the street and the bathrooms and kitchens would face in. So, not only are kitchens small, but they are usually dark. The best and obvious way to deal with this is to simply brighten up your kitchen by using white cabinetry and stainless steel appliances. Here is a perfect example. Clearly a very small space, but it looks and more importantly feels bigger than it probably is. The very soft powdery blue wall color adds a little depth, although the kitchen is still primarily white, the blue is really an accent. While some people might want a completely modern feel and keep it white, the color works well with the cabinet design to give a country feel. This is of course ultimately a personal decision on style.
