It’s no small secret that the planet is warming up, and absolutely we should all feel like its hard for us to figure out how to contribute to stem the crisis. So maybe we can give you a little good news and something that you can absolutely do at home, grow more trees in your garden, or grow more of anything in your garden for that fact, but trees in particular. Trees suck up carbon, so the more trees we plant the less carbon there is in the atmosphere. Exactly how many trees do we need to prevent utter climate catastrophe, about one trillion, yep you read that right. Odds are you don’t have enough room in your backyard for that many trees, but every one helps. So if you happen to care about the environment, you want to help fight climate change and you have a little extra room outside then go out early this fall, pick out a few trees, or really long lived hedge, bushes, whatever and get cracking putting them in the ground.
You probably know best what trees work where ever you may live, but if not, check out the big map of plant hardiness zones, if you want to know more about how that number of 1 trillion trees came up then read this article, The World Needs One Trillion More Trees To Curb Climate Change.
